What agenda and procedural items open the Santa Clara Stadium Authority meeting?
Good evening, everyone, and welcome to this special meeting of the Santa Clara Stadium Authority. Yes, just the Santa Clara Stadium Authority. So I'd like to call the meeting to order. Do we have a confirmation of quorum, City Clerk?
Thank you, Madam Mayor. Yes, confirming a quorum.
Thank you.
And I'd like to note for the record that we have Councilmember Shahal online this evening, and when we return, I will read that into the record as well.
So we have one item for closed session, city attorney.
Yes, thank you, Madam Mayor. Item one. on tonight's agenda in closed session is conference with legal counsel, anticipated litigation, the potential for initiation of litigation, number of potential cases, one potential case identified, and then also conference with legal counsel, anticipated litigation, exposure to litigation with the facts and circumstances not disclosed on the agenda pursuant to government code section 54956.9E1. For the public, Mayor, I understand there's an inquiry regarding why specifics aren't included on that, and that is something allowed by the Brown Act, and this lack of specifics is purposeful, and we do have it from time to time. It's really designed to avoid any prejudicial communications or heads up to the stadium authority's potential adversaries in such matters, and so the details aren't included on the closed session itself.
Thank you for that additional information. Is there any member of the public that wants to speak on this issue? No?
Why did the Authority go into closed session and what was reported afterward?
Okay, we're going into closed session now. We'll be back out at 7 p.m. Thank you.
Good evening, everyone. I'd like to call this meeting to order. Could you please stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and remain standing for a statement of values? I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
As we gather, we humbly seek blessings upon this meeting. May we act with strength courage and will to perform our obligations and duties to our people with justice to all. Let us seek wisdom so that we may act in the best interest of our people, our neighbors, and our country. All this we ask so we may serve our community with fairness and respect, putting their needs before all.
Thank you. Please be seated.
