So Jonathan, you're the chair if you'd like to start. Thank you.
Jonathan Evans 1:53
Um, do we have some slides?
Lisa Gillmor 1:55
I wanna make sure your mic's on.
Jonathan Evans 1:58
This this is working. Very good. Okay. So You make sure that the slides are working. Okay, so um yeah, th thank you for inviting us, uh Mayor and Council. I'm glad that Chicky Library Board is able to to s be here and and have this to dinner. I I'm gonna go through some slides. We have like a list of some accomplishments, but you know, I wanna make sure this is an open dialogue. So I assume you'll be asking us questions and that the members of the board will also, you know, fill in when some of the areas that they've been focused in. Uh quick overview. I we already met everybody, but uh this is the board of library trustees. I'm the chair Jonathan Evans and We better buddy earlier. So I want to talk a little bit about some of our um initial accomplish early accomplishments.
Jonathan Evans 2:42
One thing that we we've been doing. Is really educating the board on how the library fits into the wider system, but also um the the city, but also then how we can advocate for more library services.

How does the Library Board present its recent accomplishments and upcoming goals?

Jonathan Evans 2:55
So so one thing that you know we did is the board's been really concerned about how we fit into the general plan. Um so we did have some discussion with Um, the community development department about the general plan and when the next update's coming. Um, one thing we wanted to make sure that happens is that when we get to that point where we're updating the general plan, because that's kind of coming due soon, I think, is our understanding. Um, to make sure the library services and needs are factored into that. As the population grows, we also want to understand and and make sure that the library is is part of that so that as there's Um population has effect on library services, you know, making sure that you know we have that incorporated in there.
Jonathan Evans 3:29
Um there's also a strategic plan. I a little slide later on that you'll we'll follow up about. Um but tied maybe into the more general pl development is that there's also a facilities master plan we've been looking at and we want to make sure that that um we get that through and are able to do it because that helps guide once you know what the you know, population growth is and the fact the facilities plan really tells you, you know, what what facilities you need to m to meet those demands. Um and then another example of something we worked on is like for the Patrick Henry service specific plan, library did get really involved in advocating for the library space there, you know, whether or not that gets built.
Jonathan Evans 4:01
Um but it's certainly something that we're we're certainly really excited about. Uh in the last year, you know, we've had a few other um areas that we've really focused on. Um we have a fine free pro fine free policy um that we put in to address equity.
