I would have wanted to do Cy Young because I think you have to nominate five people for that.

For MVP, you have to do 10, which is just a lot of work to do.

So credit to the guys that do the MVP voting because it is a lot more work.

Well, it's actually interesting because I think it was maybe two or three years ago, I was in the room when BBWA were having discussions about adding that reliever of the year award specifically for, well, maybe there was a few reasons, but one of the big reasons was the fact that

It's almost impossible for a reliever to win to Cy Young now because there's just is always going to be a starter that maybe has as good a year.

And it's always going to tip in the direction of the starter, but just because of the workload that they have and just the responsibility that lays on the shoulders of a starter, as opposed to even a very elite closer that does have a high pressure situation of coming in in the ninth.

And everyone always says the ninth inning starts.

is the hardest inning to pitch.

And so in some ways, uh, closer should get extra credit for getting that ninth inning.

Like, I mean, they don't, they still just get one inning of completed work three outs, but the whole, one of the big reasons for pushing for that reliever of the year award was because people, the writers felt like they couldn't vote for relievers.

And, you know, if you're a reliever now awards don't mean everything and things like that, but

They do get awards, voting, and wins and stuff do sometimes get written into contracts, and they can award guys bonuses and things like that.

And so it's not that it doesn't matter at all.

So if you're a reliever and you think there's never any chance that you're going to win any year-end awards because...

you just you're not going to win the Cy Young then.

And then you're not eligible for really any of those other awards, because if you're not going to win the Cy Young, you're probably not going to win the MVP.

So I do think that it is nice that we have the reliever of the year award.

Now, I do think this is what the first year that.

Yes, this will be the first year to affect.
