So, I mean, to answer the question, like, I don't know how good a reliever would have to be.
Like, it might have to be, frankly, a historic season.
Like, you know, the end of the year, if the ERA is still, like, under one or something like that.
Just a crazy historic season for a reliever.
It maybe would have to be like that.
And now with the reliever of the year award, I think you're almost going to move into a place where maybe it will just β
be highly unlikely that it ever happens because writers are going to feel like, well, now the Cy Young is sort of the de facto starter of the year award because there is a reliever of the year award.
Right.
So I don't know if that's like help the situation.
I think ultimately it's probably best this way because I just think that the way that patina is these days and the, the work that starters do and how, how good starters are becoming as well, that,
I think the Cy Young had just kind of turned into starter of the year.
And so it's fair to have a reliever of the year.
Now, I don't know, like...
starters can win the Cy Young and the MVP.
So, you know, show it.
Tani could do that.
So it's possible that maybe a reliever gets a reliever of the year award in Cy Young.
But again, I would think that would have to be a very historic season.
So I would say Louis Varlin is in a very good position to win the first or inaugural American League reliever of the year award in terms of Cy Young.
We'll see.
