They sit in a chair all day and deal with phones.

Telemarketers attempt to sell products or services and switchboard operators connect callers to other people who can solve their problems.

They're both speaking with people on the phone all day and people on the other end are likely stressed out or unhappy.

Many people find these professions to be unfulfilling and nobody likes to spend the entire day getting yelled at by strangers.

It's hard to cope with a job you don't like that leaves you feeling exhausted at the end of the day.

It's not necessarily the marriage that's hard.

It's that life is hard.

And you're both individuals living life and you're showing up in your marriage with these problems.
