Jason Tim today, who is a Lakers fan on all NBA says that loss to me zapped all the momentum the Lakers had built over the previous month.
Because it did feel a little bit like an emperor has no clothes moment.
But the most important thing that came out of that game was that Luka Doncic โ
got a hamstring injury.
And it looked bad, to be honest with you, because he was kind of doing the thing.
Look, I'm not trying to make fun of a guy here, but I'm gonna make fun of him a little bit.
Luka is first team all, oh, we're down 20?
Something's hurting.
Something's hurting, let me get out of this game.
And he was kind of doing that even in the first quarter, where he's kind of wincing and stuff.
Oh, the other thing I was gonna say about the Lakers, though, real quick before I get to this.
They do.
There's two things they can do that kill you when they're on a roll.
One, I thought Luca just comes down, no passes, step back three.
And if it hits it, it's like, dang, man, like, you know, what can you do?
And then Austin Reeves barrel to the basket bump into you and get a foul when you're down 20 and Luca goes to the step back and misses.
It's hilarious.
It's like your plan to get back in this game was a zero pass possession with a step back.
And when Austin Reeves down 25 and we're like, okay, well, let me try my secret weapon.
And they don't call it.
