Smith, a Democrat from Washington state, called the tape, quote, deeply disturbing on ABC News.

But Republican Senator Eric Schmidt of Missouri told ABC News that the early September follow-on strike and those that followed were all legal.

Hegseth said the Pentagon is reviewing the strike footage to determine if it can be released.
