And how was that for you, like the world building around the magic?
Yeah, it's interesting like this whole system in society where they all voluntarily give up their magic at 14.
They all seem super fine with that and I'm like I would not be.
You've got to do what you're told.
There's always a bit of that in these fantasy novels as well.
There has to be some sort of societal construct that's perhaps very...
perhaps dictatorial in a way that always has to, like, form some sort of pressure to push against.
And I guess for them it's there's not so much of the wider government mentioned in these books, but I feel like maybe that'll come up later.
But it is about that, like, that structure that's placed on them from when they're very young, which creates, like, nice world building in the background, I felt, without, yeah.
Yeah.
So that's a good you bring that up because I was going to ask about that as well.
Do we like that narrative kind of element?
Because there's throughout the books, diary entries from Cadmus the mage, and you don't know what they're referring to or kind of how they're going to relate into the story.
But I really enjoy those even when they're a bit jarring at first.
Sometimes you're like, well, what's happening here?
That slow reveal of why they're relevant.
I always find really satisfying.
Oh, yes.
And I think that the rereading, and I would love to discuss this later, but the rereading is really rich for these kinds of books because Lynette's so good at weaving things through.
Yeah.
