the tech industry is a lot of the time disrupting the music industry.

And when people think of the music industry, they think of these big kind of US conglomerate companies.

But actually who's been disrupted are creators, songwriters, most of whom work a second job because they can't make enough money based on the actual output they're doing.

And you've got large tech companies hoovering up their content, repackaging it, mashing it up a little bit and then selling it.

Yeah.

Yeah.

And I think that argument has a lot of validity, but, well, it's less of a but and more of a, you know, and where does that AI generated music come from?

It's trained essentially on real people's music.

And that's actually why a lot of it is indistinguishable from real people's music.

Not because the AI has innovated and created something brand new,

but rather because it's been trained on the creative output and work of lots of different music creators over time.

And like any use of copyrighted material or music, it's only fair that people who are commercially exploiting that have to pay for the copyright for it.

And you'll see a lot of court cases, you know, some famous ones in Denmark, one of our customers, Koda,

recently had a very large win around this exact point.

And actually, I would encourage your listeners to have a look at Coda's website because they show side by side the AI generated song and the original song on which it was trained.

Yeah, essentially, you know, Coda representing all the music creators in Denmark, you know, took a case against an AI generation company that was generating, you know, music in an AI way, but was actually trained on all this copyrighted material.

And when it went in front of the judge, it was a super easy thing.

They said, OK, we're going to play two songs here.

One is the original song that this was trained on and the other is the AI generated song.
