Florida, among the states passing laws to allow business to round up to the next nickel.
Mint has stopped minting pennies, leading to a penny shortage.
But no overcharge if you pay by credit or debit card.
Kind of unfair to cash customers who tend to be lower income.
But the law also allows retailers to round down, and many say it all evens out in the end.
Canada has been doing this over a decade.
New Jersey has a similar rule, but retailers have to post it, and only one rounding is allowed after all the taxes and fees are totaled up.
