But what I think Fianna Fáil needs is someone to have that hunger.

And that's what you see with Simon Harris had it.

Yes, I think it has damaged him and it's also fresh in the minds.

So it will take some time for that to wear off.

I don't think it's as big a deal maybe as, you know, the Jim Gavin situation with Jack Chambers, because that really hurt the internals of Fianna Fáil, very angry about how that all played out.

And it is, that's who's going to be voting for you is your fellow Fianna Fáilers if you're going to be going for the top job.

I think actually Jim O'Callaghan's problem may actually lay in just who he is.

He's obviously an incredibly capable and qualified person to be in a minister, to be the justice minister in particular, he's a barrister.

But I don't know if he strikes the chord with that middle ground Fianna Fáil support that they need to win back.

I'm not sure he's the brand that will get that back for the party.

There's been questions then about, you know, Dara O'Brien or Dara Kaliri.

whether they would be the ones to take on the reins.

Certainly something that actually occurred to me today as I was kind of going through the runners and riders of who could potentially take over for Micheál Martin is Derek Leary has been in as Minister for Social Protection.

and rural and community development, which means you get to go around the country and shake hands and meet the, you know, grassroots Fianna Fáilers and have that kind of, you know, on the ground currency with people, which may do very well for a leadership stage.

Absolutely.

And, you know, to put Dara O'Brien, to put him around the country, I do think you could throw Dara O'Brien at a lot of things and he would stick.

Like, I think that's the kind of politician he is.
