I wish I could give credit to this, because I thought this was fascinating.
So the Greek poets and philosophers said,
very rarely use the word agape or agapo, you know, the verb of it.
Agapeo, I think, is the verb.
They can't find the writings.
It didn't flourish, that word, until Jesus came on the scene.
Correct.
Now, you think, what happened?
He literally redefined an obscure word that they use rarely
He created a new Greek word to be used profoundly from his experience on the planet.
That's when you know you did something or you showed what true love is.
When they took a word and said, ooh.
Jesus has redefined that.
Because post-Jesus, they used it primarily.
And the same you see in the Bible.
They still use the friendship word for love and all that.
But that's the one they mainly use, which is not too different from agape.
But when I heard that, I thought, isn't that fascinating?
That we had to redo our vocabulary today.
after the way Jesus lived his life when it comes to love.
