And I had a good relationship with Jeff and a ton of other people in that building.
And I had to make those phone calls ahead of publishing it, like, hey, here's what I have.
And there'd be like kind of the awkward, oh, okay.
And you go through that and you know it's your job to do these things.
And what I try to tell them, Dan, like a lot of times, in the aftermath and sometimes even ahead of time is like,
look i know it sucks that this is going to be out there but you would rather have me reporting this story you know in full and responsibly than it getting out there in some other way and you know like i think that that's the thing that you try to get people to understand is you do have a job to do but if there's something that's going to get out there that's not great and it's going to get out there regardless
The relationship that you have with the reporter can actually help you as a subject, because now that it's not that that story is going to be whitewashed.
It's that that story is going to get out there in a more responsible way than it might otherwise.
And, you know, I think that that's, again, like part of the give and take when it comes to all of this stuff.
I mean, I think if there are trade-up situations, a lot of them are going to happen on the clock.
You know, there are some veteran names floating around out there that I think could be moved.
