I've been very lucky to do this for a long time now in terms of on the Grand Prix weekend.
I've been doing Formula 3, Formula 2, GP3, GP2, whatever they branded it as.
since 2015 if you get the start right there's still a little almost like tennis player fist pump like you're like oh because it is such a ridiculous thing to do it doesn't matter how much prep you do you have no way of knowing you obviously have the muscle memory you obviously know if some lines are daft but like
If you think about how complex, say, a Bahrain opening lap is, when you've got so many different lines, so many opportunities in the first, say, four corners of the racetrack, when you call that without interruption, without hesitation, with good breath control and you've identified everything correctly, that is one of the best feelings in broadcasting.
That is such a glorious challenge because you're rattling through.
Yeah, yeah.
And I think, to be honest, I think Monaco with these regulations is going to be a bit of a revelation, isn't it?
Because I think we're going to see some really attacking stuff.
And the challenge of Monaco on Saturday is...
It's fantastic.
It is just, yeah.
And it's one where you can absolutely, you know, claim some of your best work.
It's as simple as that.
It's an opportunity to do amazing work and for everyone to enjoy it back at home.
No, I think that's really interesting.
There's so much that Nelson was talking about there that I, I remember from my first year of doing GP two and GP three.
Um, and I had a, I had a day job at a newspaper in London and then I'd, I'd sort of applied, uh,
thinking that i could get on formula one management's radar for the future and they put me on a plane to bahrain so there you go there's the job uh no screen test none of it you know for pick up the microphone the first time i did tv was the practice session in bahrain so it was a learn on the job situation um and i'd done lots of radio and i'd done lots of uh previous commentary on you know on highlights and all of that so learning learning the cadence uh how you want it to sound
was a, okay, no, I wanted it to sound slightly different to that.
So learning the mechanisms of, I had done a lot of work in football where you are naturally at the right volume because the crowd are at the right volume.
