And then suddenly we used to do the commentary in the event technical center on site at the back of the gallery.
So your audience were the replay operators and the people directing the broadcast, which is a different pressure, but also it's a slightly dampened environment.
And the nature of the commentary wasn't, you know, the volume wasn't quite at the right point and the peaks and they weren't quite right there.
And then I had a similar moment.
I had a battle in GP3.
It's probably random reference, but Emil Bernstorff had an amazing race.
He came through the field and he won.
It's one of his few victories in GP3.
And I finally sounded how I wanted to sound.
And I was like, oh, okay, that's how you do it.
And then as soon as you bank that, then you are just improving all the time.
And the other thing that Nelson said that I totally identify with is you're always evolving it.
every single year that the brilliant sports commentator for five live my kingdom used to say you can't complete commentary and i remember hearing that and i was like i didn't quite get it i was very very early in in my time behind the microphone and then you realize if you keep going through it like oh you can only really ever hit 99 even your best days behind the microphone you have a moment where you're like oh i could have phrased that slightly differently and you're constantly going in and looking at what you'd want to improve um
The nature of how to perform it how you feel was something that I took about six months to get up to speed with in 2015.
Then it's about constantly trying to, okay, so that's good.
Where do I need to improve that?
Okay.
Was that too loud?
Was that too over the top?
In 2018, I felt I was just shouting way too much.
