Now, at least in the lead-up to the 1999 referendum, we had a constitutional convention in which delegates from all sides of the aisle put their views across in an erudite fashion.
But monarchy, the farewell tour, I mean, it's not very erudite at all.
But it's not so sensitive, is it?
I mean...
The king has cancer.
He's a cancer patient.
He doesn't have to come to Australia.
He's making the effort, as is his duty as our sovereign, even as someone who's quite ill, to be honest.
He's coming in between treatments.
And to go around putting up posters that say, monarchy, the farewell tour, I mean, it's a little bit macabre.
It just misses the mark, in my view.
