And at first, I thought, I don't like taxes.
I don't know what I'm going to do over there.
And so I thought, I don't like taxes.
I don't know if this is going to be a good fit for me.
And then I thought about it a little more.
And a mentor of mine who had actually worked in the Reagan administration said I'd be crazy not to take it.
And so my first job in the Trump administration was at the US Treasury as the attorney advisor to the general counsel.
And I worked on a lot of congressional investigations and sensitive Freedom of Information Act work there.
And then I still wanted to be at the White House.
And I made that known to some friends that worked there.
And eventually I had an opportunity to work in the staff secretary's office.
So I was an assistant staff secretary in the West Wing during the first term.
That's the office that manages all the president's documents.
So it's like everything from his briefing materials to his pocket card that has like everybody's names in the meetings that he's going to and how to pronounce them, executive orders, legislation, his schedule, like his line by line schedule of the day and his like, you know,
more broad, look at a schedule for the months to come.
You're picking up the news articles that he's looking at that are in his briefing book, all that kind of thing.
So that was the office I was in, traveled on Air Force One.
It was really incredible.
And so I was there up until the very end of the first term.
And then after that, clerked for a federal judge that President Trump put on the bench.
