Prosecution said this letter is an apology for the abuse and that's how it was presented.

And the defence say this has nothing to do with the abuse.

This was an apology because there was marital problems going on in the home.

This is a very bizarre aspect of the evidence and one that, you know, I wasn't expecting.

You know, you're sitting in court and you're thinking, well, this is what I'm going to report today.

And then all of a sudden something like that comes along.

So, yeah, because we were told because Eleanor Donaldson believed that her husband was having an affair.

And this was in June of 2020.

So right at the height of the lockdown period, of the COVID lockdown period.

And so a listening device was placed in Geoffrey Donaldson's car.

So we were told that, yeah, at the height of 2020, but he didn't know that it was there.

And we were told that was because his wife believed he was having an affair.

On Thursday, we heard evidence from a minister and his wife.

They have anonymity, and so we're not allowed to name them, but they appeared in court and they gave evidence.

The minister had said that he had been referred to witnesses, and her husband had been referred to him by a colleague who said that they were in need of some support, and so he was providing that support to them, as was his wife.

The minister and his wife were on holiday and he received a text, a WhatsApp message from Geoffrey Donaldson.

He was asked how he knew it was from Geoffrey Donaldson.

He said that he believed that the WhatsApp pinged up that it was coming from Geoffrey Donaldson, but that Mr Donaldson identified himself in that message.

And he had said that he wanted to, we would like to speak to that minister in confidence.

The minister said that he knew that this was an important message.
