The case against him was significantly weakened by the fact that so many investigative leads were missed in those early days.
There was no pictures taken of Kitty's injuries, which by the time she died, because she was awake on life support, clearly all those bruises had faded and a lot of that evidence was lost.
There was no forensic, there was no rape kit done on her to say had she been sexually abused.
None of this happened while she was lying in hospital and therefore you've lost crucial evidence.
It is and there is no safeguarding in place and I know that that's one of the recommendations because I did not realise that people who are training children in that world and a lot of people start in that sort of show jumping equestrian world from a very young age, there was no need for them to, the people who train them to be security checked, there was no safeguards in place and that is a failure not of the police, that is a failure of health trusts and other people who fail to step in and say this needs regulated.
There's an awful lot of children involved in this world and
And these are children who are horse mad and will do anything to get on in that world and therefore they're left really vulnerable and to coercion and abuse by much older men.
And as you've said, they've identified 37 other people, the youngest being a nine-year-old child, the oldest being around Katie's age, around 20, 21, and two potential other offenders within the equestrian world who are currently under investigation by the PSNI.
We haven't yet, but we assume that we will get a statement from them.
This was commissioned by the Justice Minister and she made comments today.
And also Dr. Jan Millia has agreed to stay on to see the implementation of her recommendations, which is very important because otherwise it's just a load of words.
And nothing is going to happen to it.
And, you know, there are so many things which are learning.
And what I suppose what they were saying today, because we had a press conference in the Great Hall of Stormont after this, after it was delivered to Assembly, is it shouldn't, it has the potential to put people off coming forward if they're
victims of domestic abuse and they really shouldn't and there is while there was a serious misogyny issue within the PSNI officers involved in this investigation you know both had said that there there was openness from the PSNI in terms of this report and in terms of trying to tackle that systemic misogyny and trying to turn that around and do something with it and
You would like to think that they were because every page I was highlighting, you know, lines as we were going through this.
And there are just so many safeguarding issues as well.
You know, none of the statements given by Chris, which constantly changed, by the way, a story changed repeatedly and nobody bothered to question that.
None of it was checked.
He said she'd fell from a horse.
