There was some blind spots in the camera and the people who were arrested, one of them had used, they had been, one of them was a security guard and so he was able to use, make fake key cards.
So he was copying the skeleton key and making fake key cards and then handing them out and they were using that then to steal money and that much was obvious.
But they didn't do due diligence in terms of making sure that they had all the evidence before arresting these guys.
And what they also did, which I think didn't play very well on the island, is they used one of them as a witness.
And they believed, you know, people on the island, his life was in hell.
He then...
took his own life he doesn't you know he's not alive anymore but I'm back to make a documentary I went to speak to his wife who was one of the few people who wouldn't go on camera she spoke to me extensively at length a very young woman who was clearly traumatised as well and she had said
At that stage, you know, there was times when she would have changed her story and said that he was telling the truth and everything he said was true.
And other times she would have said he was made to say this.
And, you know, he was left in a position where he was ostracized completely.
And then she said the community abandoned him.
No, it's OK, I've got support.
But we went and spoke to other neighbours and they said, you know, he was completely ostracised because he was seen to be a traitor.
They went and gave evidence against other local people on behalf of a foreigner, which is how it was being treated then, which it wasn't when we were there first at the start.
You could see there was genuine, they're lovely people.
The trial was absolutely horrific for the family too.
And I think at one stage they were having to like almost police escort John McAreevy and his sister and Michaela's brother in and out of the court.
I mean, it got really nasty and heated.
It must have been the worst experience ever.
