Yeah, I mean, for those on the kind of Kent Coast, Sussex, Norfolk, around there, when you're facing mainland Europe where the Germans are literally kind of 20 miles away across the channel, you're expecting at any point.

And then once the Germans arrive, then, as I said last time, you literally disappear.

Your family has no idea what you're up to, where you've gone.

You literally disappear.

Some of them, a couple of patrols had a plan to be seen literally to be running away, so it looks like they're cowards.

to literally be seen running away as the Germans came through so then there's no so there's no there's no suspicion about what you're up to and it takes away the suspicion from your family as well because basically your husband's a coward and run away to the woods right so yeah yeah and if you imagine you know imagine leaving your family as the Germans are coming through you're leaving your wife and kids at that point I mean that's and looking like a coward and looking like a coward yeah

Well, you know, these things are being dug quickly, so you can't... You can't...

spend too much time.

Basically, they dig a hole, plonk the concrete in around it, put the roof on top and cover it back over.

And because it's only tempered, they didn't expect these to be in use for any amount of time.

It's literally a fortnight once the Germans are here.

So there's no luxury here.

This is literally a place to

get your head down during the day to allow you to have enough energy to go back out at night and play more stuff up.

Yeah, absolutely bleak.
