So for example, in Norfolk, there was a gate.

And then in the side of the gate was a fake gate bolt and you'd pull it out and it was hollow and the message would be in there.
So then you take it onto the next dead letter drop, that would continue going and it would end up with a civilian.

If you've got a 35-year-old farmer standing on the street staring at the army going through, that's going to grab the Germans' attention.
A mother pushing a pushchair or an elderly woman hobbling along the roads is not going to attract their attention.
And likewise, the people that had the wireless sets were vicars and doctors and people like that.
So in Wales, there's a vicar who had the wireless set under his altar.
