What did you make of that when it initially came about?
Was that a bit of a surprise to you that that move came about?
be worrying about next year for the rest of the teams in the league that's for sure You mentioned the fact that he's 30 years old that's come up quite a bit some people saying that they feel that he's maybe into his prime at the moment sometimes people look at footballers and think well when they hit 30 their legs are gone but you're a striker who would you say you had your best years after the age of 30?
No, he signed a new one-year deal a few weeks ago.
There was a lot of investment though last season though, Graeme.
I think around ยฃ40 million was spent.
And you look at the players that you've mentioned there, a lot of them were on loan.
You'd say a lot of them maybe didn't contribute to the level that
Danny Rule would have wanted them to so is it maybe not a bad thing that if they are making way that it makes room in the squad for you know freeze up wages for Danny Rule to go out and buy more players and you'll be hoping that you can maybe bring in players that do contribute contribute a bit more than some of the guys that you've mentioned
And you need to strike that balance as well between signing players permanently and bringing in players on loan, because both Celtic and Rangers over the years have found real success in the loan market, some players have really worked out, and you look at Mikey Moore this season came in, had an impact at Rangers, one young player of the year, but there'll be other loans that don't quite work out, but
You just can't go out and spend the money on every single player and sometimes loan moves are more beneficial and maybe get a player that you couldn't afford to pay the permanent fee for but you'll get him on loan for a season and it can be beneficial for both parties.
Thank you to Graham.
What about Billy who's a Rangers fan and East Kilbride?
Billy, what are you thinking about the Laurence Shanklin deal and anything else that's going on at Rangers?
Into his contract Allow him to come to Rangers On a free But I don't think that would have been Derek McInnes' Intention at all I don't think Derek McInnes Would have wanted to His top goal scorer And his You know his captain Leaving to go to a Sort of title rival No I think Derek McInnes Would rather Lauren Shanklin Was still a Hearts player That's for sure That's probably Lauren Shanklin's agent Has been very clever here In making it possible For him to go to Rangers In the first place
foremost the area to fix to be honest with you Do you think Danny Rule will be looking for a new goalkeeper because I think there is a bit of debate surrounding Jack Butland he is capable of some very good saves but he's also had some high profile moments this season where he maybe hasn't covered himself in glory is that one of the problem areas do you think it's could Rangers be looking elsewhere to try and improve the squad instead?
defence could become a really interesting part for Rangers because you know there's talk that there may be interest in Emmanuel Fernandes who was a you know a regular starter for Rangers Nasser Jigar who was partnering him is away James Tavernier is away Dujon Sterling is the one that was sharing that role hasn't been able to stay fit Max Ahrens is away as well so there's going to need to be work done in that department regardless isn't there?
Danny Rowe was very clear on that towards the end of the season that he felt Rangers needed more leaders Hart's captain has been brought in do you still feel that's an area that needs to be boosted was that part of the issue towards the end of the season why Rangers weren't able to keep up pace?
Thank you to Billy.
