And then I was just walking along the beach one day with Mark and I said to him, let's just move to Africa.
And he straight away just said, yes, yes, let's do that.
Wait, why?
Why did that come to you as a solution to this?
I think because through those four years, it was so frustrating just knowing there's millions of
children who are orphaned and don't have a family.
And we were learning more and more about that.
But it was just this slow process where there was no solution and there seemed to be no urgency that these children needed a family.
And so in part, we just wanted a big new adventure for our family.
And in part, we were looking for where could we actually find children who are legitimately orphaned?
There is no other option for them.
There isn't a long waiting list of people waiting to adopt them
And how could we find children who really genuinely needed a home?
Yeah, we had heard all of the horror stories, orphanages that were trafficking children, children who were found out later that they were actually never abandoned or that their story was not what they were told and we wanted to avoid all of that.
And it's so hard because the children who are legitimately in need of a home
suffer because of all of those terrible processes.
And so what we were looking for was a place that we could be 100% sure that the children in those situations actually genuinely had no other option and needed a family.
And so that's what we began looking for.
We didn't know at the start.
We kind of went on a big journey to find out where could we move that would be safe for our family.
