I went and studied psychology, which I was very disappointed by.
I was like, where's the psychotherapy?
Lots of stats and labs.
Yeah, I mean, for me, I had been to therapists for a decade.
I'd done the whole talking about what had happened to me.
I can tell my story till the cows come home.
It really doesn't impact me emotionally anymore.
And so I think what I found when I was studying psych was like, yeah, but what's next?
Like for the people that can tell their story, for the people that talking about it isn't
fundamentally that helpful.
Like I never left a session being like, God, I feel light.
I always left a session being like, I've told my story again and I've looked at it from a different perspective again, but I still don't feel any different.
And so I got quite frustrated with psychology in that I was like, I'm learning the same tools in which I felt like didn't particularly help me.
And so I started to reflect on what were the things that had helped me.
So I knew that movement had helped me.
I'd gained a sense of space in my body to start to look inwards without it becoming overwhelming.
There was a lady that came in one day to do a lecture and she was talking about the gut microbiome and its impact on mental health.
And this was the first time I'd heard this.
I was like, wow, that's insane.
No one's told me what I eat can impact how my mental health functions.
