I fought as hard as I could.
I get on the phone and I'm like, no, we have to start giving him these certain medications that are going to help with this inflammation.
And he needs to be on fluids at least because we can't be starving him to death.
That's not humane.
At least for us to figure out what we want to do.
Essentially, I stayed on the hospital until eventually they said, right, we'll do a Hail Mary.
We'll give him this medication and
to see if it helps.
And within 24 hours, he was speaking again.
He was telling people off.
He was telling people what he wanted, what he didn't want.
It was insane how quickly he switched.
Now, I mean, day-to-day life now is very different, but he was on his deathbed.
Now he can move.
He's got hemiplegia on his left-hand side.
So his left leg and his left arm aren't functional the same way that they used to be.
He's doing lots of physical therapy, which is starting to help.
But he has his own motorized wheelchair.
He can get around.
He's got semi-independence.
