Whenever she puts out something, though, there are immediate Taylor Swift comparisons.

And I don't think that's necessarily fair.

But I think just, like, given their history, that's sort of inescapable.

And I think there's a lot of people that would stand by the thought that because Olivia is so in her own lane and is on this, like...

trajectory.

That's also part of the reason they're not close.

Of course, many have speculated that Taylor Swift's camp sort of strong-armed her into crediting her on songs like Deja Vu.

Which is very weird.

And I know we didn't even end up talking about this on the pod, but there was a few weeks ago, she did a really good interview with Popcast, where they asked her pretty directly about this.

I saw it.

It was the most she's ever said about the topic, but she said she was pretty caught off guard.

And she said, at the time, it was very confusing.

I was green and bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

I don't think I would ever personally do that.

But who's to say where I'll be in 20 or 30 years?

All I can do is write my songs and focus on what I can control.

Because the truth is, if she just came out and said directly, yeah, this is what happened.

Taylor Swift fans would not like that.
