And Darlene later said that what first drew her into Keith were his manners, his easygoing personality.

Remember, he loved the outdoors.

He was just like a Texas guy through and through.

She also said that he had, quote, the most beautiful eyes.

So not only were they opposites in terms of hobbies and, you know, perhaps what they looked like,

But they came from two completely different worlds.

Darlene had grown up in this very tiny Texas town called Cameron.

The population was barely 6,000 people.

And she was the stereotypical small-town sweetheart.

I'm talking homecoming queen, a very bubbly personality, friends with everyone, the bombshell.

I mean...

Perfect for like a Lifetime movie or a Hallmark movie, right?

And like I said, Keith was the quiet type who really preferred to just go out for a good hunt than go to a crowded party.

But again, somehow they just clicked.

So not long after meeting, the two of them started dating, and everybody around them could tell that this was a very special relationship.

Keith's family absolutely adored her, and his dad, Wayman Sr., later said, she just acted like Keith hung the moon, you know?

Whatever he wanted to do, they did.

But as we know, even picture-perfect relationships, they do have their cracks.

And after about eight months together, things between the two of them hit a rough patch.
