She wanted to get married.

She wanted to be a wife, a mom, the whole thing.

But Keith, on the other hand, he wasn't quite there yet.

He loved her, yes, but marriage, it just felt way too fast.

So because of that, they broke up.

And Darlene moved to Dallas to just start over, start fresh, while Keith stayed in Waco.

But here's the thing about first loves.

We've all had them, right?

They kind of have a way of sticking with you.

Even when you feel like you've moved on or you've met somebody new or you've shaken that feeling, they have just this way of sticking with you.

And even though the two of them went their separate ways, they never really let go.

Also, Dallas didn't exactly go smoothly for Darlene.

She wasn't loving the big city.

She didn't care much for her job.

And to top it all off, her car even got stolen while she lived there.

So that was kind of the final straw for her.

That was it for her.

Dallas was out, and she moved back home to Cameron.

And right about the time she moved back home to Cameron, I guess that's when you could say fate stepped in.

Because not long after returning home, she ran into Keith again.
