But he figured that being home for dinner every night was worth it.
It was worth the offset of not having the income that they used to have.
He wanted to actually be there for his kids, watch them grow up, not just be the guy who paid the bills.
But instead of that decision bringing peace to this family, it had the opposite effect.
Things started to unravel.
Keith wasn't happy in his new job.

And he struggled with this feeling where he just kind of was battling with himself, feeling like he had taken this huge step backward.

But soon, the unhappiness at work started spilling into their home life.
The fighting between him and Darlene got worse.
There were constant arguments.
It was always about the same thing, too, money.
And Darlene, it turned out, had a bit of a spending problem.
And look, I am the first one who will be all for treating yourself.
If you work hard, you deserve nice things.
But Darlene wasn't just, you know, out treating herself.
