He didn't know, but he was trying to just rationalize with himself.
But deep down, something about it just did not sit right.
Especially considering, you know, that she had literally just been arrested for murder.
Something was weird here.
So he couldn't figure out how or why this pond might be connected.
But the whole thing gave him this gut feeling that something was just off.
So Robert did what most people, let's be honest, would not have the courage to do, and he immediately went to the police.
He figured, you know, worst case, they check it out, and it's nothing.
Best case, it's something important.
Better safe than sorry, right?
And when the detectives heard what he had to say, their ears immediately perked up.
Because anytime there's a murder case and there's a pond that comes into play, the investigators usually think of two possibilities, right?
Either someone's trying to get rid of evidence or someone's trying to get rid of a body.
Now, in this case, Keith's body wasn't missing, but the murder weapon, it sure was still missing.
So detectives were confident that there was only one reason that Darlene suddenly wanted that pond filled inβ
It was because her husband's .22 caliber gun, the one that was used to kill him, was probably sitting at the bottom of it.
So moving in as quietly as possible, the police sent over a dive team to search that pond.
And they wanted to do so before Darlene could change her mind or make another move.
It wasn't a huge body of water either.
