He saw Julian inside his house and he told him, quote, "'You're not supposed to be here.'"
According to the investigators, Julian then shoved John onto his bed, went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and then came back to the bedroom.
Once he was back in the bedroom, he stabbed John and then he grabbed a bottle of wine from a cooler that was in the bedroom and he beat John over the head with it to make sure that he was dead.
After that, Julian left the house with John's car, his bank cards, and even his phone.
He later told the police that he threw the knife and the bottle of wine into a creek, but both weapons did end up being recovered.
Investigators described this attack as just extremely vicious, and Sheriff Judd, who I personally love, he covers a lot of cases because unfortunately a lot of these cases happen in Florida, you probably would know him, Judd Grady, he had said that John suffered a very painful death.
And what makes this case hit even harder is who John was.
He had been a nurse for 30 years.
Friends and neighbors described him as generous, trusting, and somebody who genuinely just wanted to help people.
One friend even said that they went out to eat with John multiple times a week, just the two of them.
And he knew that something was wrong when John suddenly just stopped responding.
Sheriff Judd also said that John just believed that Julian was this young person who needed help, needed a little bit of a break in life.
He wanted to be that person to help him.
But in the end, that decision cost him his life.
So Julian is now facing more than a dozen charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, burglary, and tampering with evidence.
He's being held without bond, and his arraignment is scheduled for January 20, 2026.
But...
This is one of those cases that kind of just sits with you in a very uncomfortable way because it's not about a random crime, a crime of opportunity, or even a crime of passion.
It's about somebody who really tried to do the right thing and help someone, give them a leg up, and that person just took advantage of you, ultimately allowing their entitlement and their wants and their selfish needs to take over and feel like that's the only thing that mattered.
And because of that, they took your life over it.
