He doesn't handle the puck like a grenade.
He has a good first outlet pass.
He can skate pucks out of trouble.
Like I said, the only real holdup for me with him, even away from the flyers context is just like in the
get shot towards the net, be more effective on the power play.
But as a transition guy and around his own net, for his size specifically, I really like what he brings.
And I think it's a really good upside play for John Chaika and the Leafs.
Honestly, Jesse, I think it depends if he could become an effective power play guy.
If he could become an effective power play defenseman, even as like a second unit guy, I think he could maybe be like a four or five, maybe like a poor man, Shane Gossespierre road, like a role.
Like, I don't think he's ever going to put up numbers like Ghost because Gossespierre has the cannon from the blue line.
But if he could just be somehow an effective guy on the power play and on the man advantage, I think there's room for him to
up into the top four if need be and because you look at his underlying numbers you look at the eye test like he's a good five on five defenseman in his own end transitionally it just really comes down to the offensive zone and as someone with the flyer said to me yesterday it just comes down to the fact that he didn't produce enough for them to warrant viewing him as a top four guy or even
even a consistent third pair guy when you have the likes of York and Jamie Drysdale and to a certain extent of Travis Sanheim already in the top four.
So yeah, I think if he could find a way to be a power play defenseman in any sense, then he could be a number five, 100%.
yeah necessarily the the same thing right he helps he helps create offense by giving it to the offensive players but he doesn't create offense by doing it if that makes exactly yeah oh well look at travis sanheim sorry to cut you off like travis no but travis sanheim is exactly that workhorse could skate the puck out of problems good outlet pass but he obviously is a better skater but you put travis sanheim on the power play and it's anemic at best so i 100 agree with you uh
Steve that puck moving and offensive defensemen are completely different things and obviously I don't think Andre will ever get close to what Travis Sanheim is but I think that's why you need a meals game to kind of develop in the offensive side because he can't be that workhorse 25 minute minute muncher like Sanheim has become
You know what it was?
And it wasn't even an Emile Andre moment.
It's an off the ice moment.
