When I was a kid, I learned a lot of poems, a lot of words, and I was very moved by them from, I think, from about the age of 11.
There was one occasion... I was in school.
I was sitting in the back of the classroom where I always sat, sullenly, not wanting to be involved in anything.
And the English teacher...
called me, said, I want, come up here to the front of the class.
I said, I want you to read this poem.
He seemed to have an instinct about me that I knew something.
And he handed me a poem, which was West Wing by John Macefield.
He said, read that.
He said, out loud.
I read it and I was strangely moved by it.
Is that the end, he said.
