yeah and i think that the blue jays much more so prioritize like defensive contributions a catcher more so than offensive particularly in the backup catcher role um like kirk is such a uniform unicorn and just the way that he can like carry your lineup at times and the way that he can be one of the best catch hitting catchers in the league while also being an elite defender um but i think when it comes to their backup catcher like

Clearly, they've had Tyler Heinemann for a couple of years as their backup catcher.

Clearly, like their priority is defensive.

And that's not just like blocking balls or framing.

That's also how you work with the pitching staff, understanding what makes different guys tick.

Your pitcher's liking throwing to that individual, which is like just something subjective and something unquantifiable.

But yeah,

Like if Kevin Gossman and Dylan Cease just really like how Tyler Heinemann game calls for them, his flow, his tempo, how he works with them in pregame meetings, how he sets up for them, all those little intricacies.

I think that the opinions of your pitching staff matter as well.

And for us from the outside looking in, it's going to be really difficult to get a good read on that.
