Well, tons of gaming news and gaming releases.
This week, I'm playing Mixtape, the new Annapurna-published adventure game, but I'm bracing myself because we're about to enter a two-week stretch of Early Access Subnautica 2, followed by Forza Horizon 6...
followed by Lego Batman Legacy of the Dark Knight, plus Mina the Hollower, plus 007 First Light Madness.
And we will be button mashing about it all.
So brace yourselves, strap in everybody.
But today we're talking Mortal Kombat!
Another big screen box office sensation.
This is the fourth film in the franchise, the sequel to the 2021 reboot.
This one has the same director as the reboot, Simon McCoy, but a different writer, Jeremy Slater, whom our listeners might know for his superhero work, most recently on Moon Knight and the Umbrella Academy and also Godzilla Kong, The New Empire.
Now, people might remember a movie called Mortal Kombat Annihilation.
or they might not.
1997, cult classic, maybe, if we can call it that.
But that movie bombed so hard that the third movie in what was originally supposed to be a Mortal Kombat mid-'90s, late-'90s trilogy was canceled.
And so people might have wondered and worried, would history repeat itself?
Would Mortal Kombat 2 be so bad that we wouldn't get Mortal Kombat 3?
Well, in the wise words of Liu Kang, worry expends energy for no purpose.
This movie is good, Jess.
I like this movie.
Some two hours at least.
