So maybe I'll have to eat my words here a little bit.
But we have to understand that this is entertainment.
And it is a religion to some people and to some in our fan base.
But it is entertainment at the end of the day.
And we should be realistic about whether or not we were entertained.
um by a group of guys who laid it all out and and uh did the best they could as a collective um you know battle battling through injuries and and challenge and you know having two long playoff runs in the previous seasons what does that do on the body and the fatigue and the soul right well they've played the ben they've played the second most playoff games in the league over the last four years right they've lost the four straight stanley cup champions they've played
Yeah, absolutely.
Absolutely it is.
And I think the challenges, I mean, this is the sort of the flowery discussion around hockey and sports and arts, right, is sport is a microcosm of life writ large, right, where the challenges that we face
and we confront head-on and and figure out a way to to work with and work through um move past they become part of our resiliency going forward which sets us up for um for future successes right it teaches us where our limits and our capacities are and also teaches us that we can sometimes exceed them even though we didn't know we could and and connor has done you know a great job i mean
I don't know that there's someone more deserving of the Masterson than him.
I predict that he'll win, but, you know, stand to be corrected.
But, you know, he and his story give me a lot of confidence that...
The pressure that we assume he might be feeling is far less than is actually coursing through his veins.
You know, anybody who's lost a loved one understands the perspective that
that uh grief and loss can put on our lives right we've heard it kind of time and time again from guys who are returning that's like yeah hockey's just a game right it's an important thing for for a lot for all of us but nothing's more important than family and our loved ones um and i think that helps him right in in uh where he's at he's he is uh
has a skill set that he's learned going through the sabh program um and all of the trials and tribulations there which again i mean i think he's got some thick skin i think he's got some self-confidence um and i think that bodes really well as far as his resiliency um you know and i think you see that in his demeanor and his temperament uh as he as he takes the ice night in and night out for this uh
for this Oilers team, despite not starting with this team at the beginning of the year, right?
It's crazy, isn't it?
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
