The funny thing is that one of the pictures that I had on my Hinge profile was a picture of me in police uniform.
I was like, I don't want the first date to be awkward and telling you like, hey, I'm a cop, by the way.
And I know how that stigma can look.
Can we talk a little bit about that?
It was hard because as soon as you tell somebody you're a police officer, you're looked at differently.
Meaning you're a shift worker.
you arrest people and regardless of, regarding of like current events at the time, like back then it was during the time of like the heighten of Black Lives Matter.
And being a police officer was not a great look.
Whereas me, I'm thinking I'm a police officer.
I'm here representing my community, people who look like me.
I was the first Haitian female in my police department.
So I'm thinking it's no big deal.
But during dates, I would find it very awkward.
Where it's like the person wouldn't get to know you fully because you're a police officer.
So automatically you're out.
