They got down to Papua New Guinea.
They bombed Darwin in Australia.
So we built these air raid shelters under Albert Park and there's an enormous labyrinth of tunnels in there and we're standing in front of the door of one of them.
It took about a year, I understand, about a year and a half, two years.
But we actually stopped it early because as the Americans really got involved,
and there were some big naval battles down in the Coral Sea, Midway, that kind of thing.
They pushed the Japanese back, so there was less fear of invasion.
So we actually closed down the tunnels while the war was still on.
