Yeah, he was very respectful.
A lot of times when there are, you know, high stakes in a criminal case, there can be friction with your client.
There really wasn't any with Cornelius.
There's a phrase in the world of capital litigation, death is different.
And when we're advising someone, anytime it's a capital case, it's going to be different advice than it might be if it were not a death penalty case.
It was a difficult day, but at the end of the day, I think he knew that it was in his best interest to do that.
And I think he also knew it was in the family's best interest, both his and Jocelyn's family.
You never got a sense that your son... If I hadn't had any sense of it, I would have taken action.
This is Daniel in 2009, so that would have made him 12.
And I'd gone upstairs and taken a shower, came down and said, come on, Dan, let's go to the hospital.
They got in the car and made it to the corner of their street.
Next thing I knew, I woke up and the car ran into a wall covered in bushes and a tree.
I asked Daniel, how did we wind up here?
He says, suddenly you just passed out.
He says, I climbed into your lap and steered the car into the wall to stop it.
