I really appreciate that set up there, Dax.
My interest was in trying to exploit the best of my potential.
This kind of goes back to civics because you should contribute to your community.
And if you have a skill set that's applicable in some way that can contribute to your community, even if it's stupid storytelling, if you can be really good at it, you can be really useful.
In a certain sector of somebody's life, you know, there's part of their life they need a half hour break.
Like that guy in Hello Tomorrow, that character feels really useful when he can light that guy up with a little bit of hope.
And I feel useful when I can tell a good story and I can collaborate with people with disparate upbringings and ways of seeing and create something that none of us imagined individually.
One of the reasons why I love New York, why I've been there, it is pluralism, right?
Smashed in your face, you know, it is just compressed, distilled.
And so the audience is there.
It is a Hasidic Jew sitting next to a cowboy.
And on your way to work on the train, you're going to sit next to all of those people.
And one of them is going to tell you to fuck off once a day.
So you're not going to be
able to get a big head about it, but you're going to be a part of the community.
And so I suppose that's one reason why the theater in particular, I think the biggest reason is because that's where I've had some of the best parts.
You know, how do I turn down some of those parts?
I studied this kind of work so I could apply it in this way.
