I guess, what is the chat like talking to a guy who's that young?
And then as you see them evolve through the minors, what are the kind of things you're looking out for?
Yeah, and so far, so good.
You know, you mentioned he hasn't homered yet at AA, but hitting .317 and the strikeout rate hasn't taken a jump since getting the call from high A. Long summer, those ebbs and flows can happen, but so far, so good with Arjun Damala, who is still only 20 years old.
David, from current Blue Jays prospect,
to former Blue Jays prospect.
I know you have a piece coming on Austin Martin, and to the extent that you are willing to spoil it for our audience, let us know what you've got coming for a guy who has turned himself into a top 10 on base percentage guy in baseball right now.
And able now to play all three outfield positions has even started a handful of games in center.
Derek Shelton, by the way, who will join John Schneider as...
part of the coaching staff for the American League All-Star Game because they go back to Shelton's time in the Blue Jays organization.
David, looking forward to that Austin Martin piece.
Two weeks back, you had a really great piece where you spoke to Bryce Harper about hitting, and that sentence is amazing.
It seems like that would be very, very cool to talk to someone as good and as tenured as Bryce Harper about hitting.
The thing that stood out to me most is when you were talking to Bryce Harper about some of the โ
changes in pitchers he's faced over the course of his career.
How much did you come away from that interview reflecting on how when Harper came into the league, what a hitter was dealing with is pretty different than what a hitter is dealing with now?
Yeah, it's a lot of what Vlad does well.
And yeah, the quotes from Bryce Harper about seaball, hitball are fascinating.
I had Vernon Wells on the show recently, and he was kind of thinking back to, you know, we were talking a little bit about how he would use the tools of today and what tools he used to prep for pitchers and things like that in his era.
And then he was like, well, Alex Rios wouldn't do any of that.
