That was like, what, 2009?
So, but it was like, if the Red Sox said, this guy is important to us, we're going to get him.
And I'm sure that to your point, like with the Sandoval thing and the other ones where it got really, really uncomfortable, like really uncomfortable.
Absolutely.
Yeah, well, again, it just didn't happen.
Like, this is...
It's, and I can go down the list of guys, but I think the lesson, one of the lessons is, is that you want the guy, you need the guy.
So you're going to, here's what I've been saying, Zach, when it comes to the Bregman stuff and other stuff is that.
If you know that a big part of building your roster is going to be via free agency, then you just have to accept that it's just going to get to a level where it's going to go past your models.
It's going to get uncomfortable.
And it's different if the guy's a quote-unquote luxury item or a guy that you absolutely have to have.
And I'll go with the Bregman thing, is that this was clearly their plan A.
all right, you got to a level, you said, yay, you know, we're really going after it.
We're overvaluing them in our eyes, whatever.
But ultimately, if you're going to swim in those waters, as you have been in the past, you're going to swim in the waters, you know that this is going to be a weird world, you know?
I mean, and you've swam in plenty of weird worlds when it comes to free agency, I would imagine.
But I even think with the Sandoval, not to belabor that one, but I remember, obviously, he was a nice acquisition.
But with Bregman, it was like, oh, we've seen it.
The pivot has been after this, like, well, what are we going to do?
Oh, I guess we'll do run prevention.
