I'll get to that in a second.
But
One of the things, one of the holdups with the Bregman thing was the no trade.
And this is another part of it where you just, you get to a level and you just might have to say, I don't want to do this, but I'm going to have to do it.
And a perfect example of this, Zach, was last year.
What pushed him over the finish line was the opt-outs.
We give him the opt-outs and it came back to burn him a little bit, but so be it.
You got the player, you need to do it.
So from your perspective, when you heard about the no trade stuff, the first thing is you've lived through the life with the Red Sox ownership and organization about how they view that.
And how did you view it in terms of the history and also exactly what happened with Bregman?
Yeah.
I mean, I think that it's either you want the, I don't want to be simplistic about it, but either you want the guy you don't.
So another thing that has come to mind in recent days about signing, so you hear the narrative about we aren't comfortable.
Obviously, any free agency is probably going to be into the... If they're not already into their 30s, they're going to be into their 30s pretty soon.
And there's...
There was always, I remember after, what was it, the John Lester thing, John Henry saying, you know, we don't, you know, pitchers in their 30s, whatever.
But now, you know, they just signed a pitcher in his 30s to a five-year deal.
Conversely, you hear, we don't want position players for long-term deals.
Right.
I don't know if it's so simplistic as saying it shifted a little bit.
