I was like, I watched the class and I was like, dad, I want to do it.
And he's like, okay, we'll use the trial gi.
I was like, dad, I don't want to borrow a gi.
Can you buy me one?
My parents didn't have much money.
My dad was just starting to do okay for himself at that point.
He's like, if I buy you this gi, I promise you for the rest of the year, you're coming.
Three times a week at least.
I was like, yes, sir.
So I started and never looked back.
A couple months later, my brother and my dad joined me and we did it all together for a little while.
Then my brother found girls and he went his way.
So, yeah, it's been a long road.
It definitely got him.
It definitely got him, man.
That life took him elsewhere, and I don't know.
Luckily, I stayed.
He would have been better than me, though.
He was a lot tougher.
Yeah, but my dad would put him in his place.
