I can't believe that we finally finished.

But Kyle's still stuck at mile 18 or 20 where I said I quit and then didn't talk to him.

And so he lets me have it.

We're in the back of this taxi cab and we are screaming at each other.

I mean, back and forth.

Well, in those days, we didn't have the budget to just bring caregivers and personnel.

So it was just me and him.

And we get back to the hotel and it's like, who's putting you to bed now?

Right?

And so the fight kind of continued in silence because I had to put him to bed.

I couldn't leave him in his wheelchair all night.

I mean, I could have, but...

he would have screamed at me more.

And the next morning we just silently hugged and sat there for a while.

And then Kyle was able to finally look at his phone and finally understood like what we talked about early.

Like he was finally able to step back because in those moments of difficulty where he was getting more and more angry, he never thought about what I went through.

He never thought about the hour I spent trying to fix the chair.

He never thought about the ropes that we had tied off to the chair that were digging into my arm

trying to hold this mangled wheelchair up while we were walking with a broken wheelchair.

You know, he never thought about that.
