throughout the offseason very clear about players goals and what they need to work on and sometimes it's because they were unable to reach a goal so they're at one place or sometimes it's a matter of playing time opportunity
for a pitcher, a chance to stretch them out at one affiliate versus another.
So there are a bunch of different things that come into play when we're making these decisions.
But again, at the end of the day, I think the hope is that we're putting these guys in the best place for them to get better.
And we're really lucky to have staff at all four of our full-season affiliates and then in Fort Myers that are going to push these guys and do an incredible job.
So the hope is no matter where they are, they're going to be in a good spot.
That's a deep question.
I mean, I definitely have said on here before, one of my favorite parts of player development is the relationships, the conversations you get to have, and the people you get to know.
And I'd be lying if I didn't say you get to know players in a certain way, some more than others, and you obviously want what is best for them.
So there are certain times that you have to have a tough conversation or make a decision that –
you know the player might not love.
But I think at the end of the day, I think being a parent has helped me with this, being honest and giving them
clear feedback i i think hopefully you are able to maybe able to make those decisions and put your head on uh the pillow and sleep well at night so it definitely there's an emotional part for sure but i think anyone who's working in player development anyone who's making these types of decisions understands that at the end of the day you hope hopefully you're making them for the longer term versus um the shorter day-to-day term so um yeah there is a real part of that but again i'm
have to do what's best for the player, have to do what's best for the organization.
And our leadership group does a really good job of making sure that we are very clear with our goal and what is important to the Boston Red Sox to help them at the end of the day compete for a World Series.
So there's an emotional part, but I think you have to balance that with the reality of trying to build a championship roster and championship farm system.
I asked Rob in the moment if you wanted to pitch your position player.
He asked me for just one.
My position player that I had on the tip of my tongue was Henry Godbout.
Yes.
