So my challenge for you guys, no, I do not expect you to put your phone down in this very moment.
and to be off it for the next 24 hours.
But my hope for you is that after listening to this episode, you will be in a place where you want to do that and you'll be able to do that with ease because you know that it is good for you.
I'm going to dive into some of the physical, scientifically proven studies that have shown the physical, mental, any kind of effects on us.
And I know that a lot of you who listen are, we have actually a wide range of age who listen, but for the sake of this, I know that there are some of you who are younger and I want to show that even if you are young and
And even if it doesn't feel like it's stressing you out and it's something that's just really fun and really normal and it's okay to be on your phone because everyone else is doing it, it is still affecting you.
So I want to share this study for you guys.
Now I know that I have a large range of ages when it comes to our podcast listeners, which I absolutely love.
So let me start just by saying this starts dated back from ages 8 to 12.
which is insane.
At ages 8 to 12 years, screen time use averages a little over five hours a day, which already is a lot.
Let's think about how much you could get done in just five hours, which is already so much.
I want you to think about five hours.
That is the length of some people's school or workday almost.
Five hours.
That is such in a long amount of time.
And the fact that all of that is being spent on a phone for a young kid, it's so wild to me.
And the study goes even further and says that the data shows that 12-year-olds who owned a smartphone had 30% higher odds of depression, 40% higher odds of obesity, and 60% higher odds of insufficient sleep compared to their peers without a smartphone.
Which, obviously, no one needed to spell that out for us.
However, for me personally, having a physical statistic or fact that I can look at really does plant it in my head.
