Yeah.
Every time I do an event, I would have like little baby queer authors being like, I want to write this story about an autistic trans person, but I just don't know if anyone will relate to it.
Well, I'll tell you, some people won't relate to it.
This book I sent off to other publishers and I had an editor turn around and be like, well, I just don't get the narrator.
I'm like, okay, you're not required to.
Like you don't have to be able to put yourself completely in their skin.
To be able to empathize with a main character, I don't understand that.
But your readers will find you.
Just commit really hard to the bit.
That's why I love so much about fantasy is experiencing different people's crazy lives in these magical worlds.
Absolutely.
But for some people, there's like a mental bar.
There's like, I am willing to do this up until this certain point.
And then once I hit that wall, that little bit is too much for me.
that's a little bit too far because some people don't read fantasy for the escapism and to put themselves in someone else's shoes.
Some people read fantasy because they want to self insert.
They can jump into with as little fuss as possible.
And I think there is that fiction out there and that's beautiful, but that's not what I go to high fantasy for.
