No.
Did we create massive amounts of harm, both to individuals, to communities?
If you look at it, it's like 90% of the harm associated with drugs does not come from the drug itself, but comes as a result of the prohibition against the drug.
Yeah.
And so that, to me, it needs to be a learning lesson.
Now, do I think the government should do absolutely nothing when it comes to drugs?
I wouldn't say nothing, but I don't think that its efforts should be directed towards laws and regulation.
if we took all of that money and we said, hey, you have the right to do whatever you want to do with your body.
So as long as you are not harming other people, we are not going to come in and use force against you.
But let's use power instead.
And I think that that's the real, I guess, essential component of government that we fail to recognize is that we're just so focused on force that we forget about the bully pulpit and we forget about the power that government can have.
so it's a thought experiment we can't answer it you know outright but we can say all that billions if not trillions of dollars we spent on the war on drugs if we would have spent it education harm reduction you know things of that nature and not the way that california did it because california definitely i was just yeah yeah yeah and that's the thing it's like when you bring this to people they're like well look at california and it's just like look what i'm talking about is not fucking california was that the dare program you're talking about
Well, not just that was fine.
Yeah.
Well, no, it's it's so California.
I think so.
I mean, California said, oh, let's let's go this way.
And it's drugs.
People have the right to use drugs.
And it's saying, well, OK, I believe that.
